Pepsi Chooses Augmented Reality Over Broadcast Ad During Super Bowl LV
This year’s Super Bowl LV Was a Win for Augmented Reality with Pepsi taking a different approach to their usual Super Bowl ad. They pulled their usual 30-second broadcast ad and replaced it with an augmented reality campaign by putting QR codes on their pop cans. Consumers scanned the code to access exclusive content including short clips with the Super Bowl halftime performer The Weekend.
The AR experience included social media lenses and added the “shareable experiences”. The impact? More people engaged with Pepsi’s digital and AR campaign then watched the actual Super Bowl itself.
